(Sports Network) – Daniel Sedin and Raffi Torres both scored twice to help the Vancouver Canucks beat Dallas, 5-2, and sweep the season series with the Stars.
Roberto Luongo made 22 saves for the Canucks, who outscored Dallas by a 20-5 margin in four games this season. Vancouver also rebounded from Thursday’s loss to Nashville and opened a six-game homestand.
Andrew Raycroft let in five goals on 38 shots for the Stars, who have lost four in a row and eight of nine overall. Brenden Morrow and James Neal lit the lamp in the loss.
With the score tied, Torres gave the Canucks the lead early in the second period. During a Vancouver counter-rush, he ripped a shot from the right circle through Raycroft at the 6:29 mark.
Then, 7:39 into the third, Sedin made it a 3-1 game. Twin brother Henrik gained control of the puck in his own zone near the right boards, and skated into the neutral zone before threading a perfect pass between two defenders for Daniel, who beat Raycroft 1-on-1.
Morrow got the goal back about six minutes later, but Henrik Sedin restored the Canucks’ cushion. Vancouver set up a 3-on-1 after a turnover near its own blue line, and he finished from the left side after receiving a cross-ice pass from Daniel with 4:07 to play.
Torres scored 33 seconds later on yet another Canucks rush, cementing the victory.
Daniel Sedin scored his first goal 2:46 into the game, while Neal answered about two minutes later.
