(Sports Network) – Trevor Daley and James Neal each tallied twice as Dallas pulled away late for a 6-1 win over Atlanta at American Airlines Center.
Adam Burish and Jeff Woywitka also potted goals for the Stars, who got two assists apiece from Brad Richards, Jamie Benn, Mike Riberio and Stephane Robidas in winning for a third straight contest and fifth in six tries.
Kari Lehtonen stopped 29 shots and added a helper for Dallas, which has won three of the last four meetings between the teams.
Andrew Ladd notched the goal for the Thrashers, who have dropped four in a row and been outscored 24-9 in the process.
Chris Mason stopped the three shots he faced before leaving with a lower body injury in the first period. Ondrej Pavelec took over and yielded all six goals on 24 shots to absorb the loss.
Dallas struck first when Benn’s pass bounced off an Atlanta skate back to Daley at the point and his shot made it through traffic past Pavelec to put the Stars ahead 9 1/2 minutes into the opening session.
Atlanta got on the board 6:21 into the second period when Ladd wristed a shot past Lehtonen to tie the game.
The Stars then scored twice in the final half of the period to grab the lead for good.
Burish tipped in a Robidas shot with 6:02 to play to put the hosts back on top before the Dallas netminder started the play that led to the next goal.
Lehtonen’s outlet pass was taken by Ribeiro at center ice and his pass sent Daley down the right side. The seventh-year defenseman then ripped a wrister top shelf far side to beat Pavelec to push the lead the lead to 3-1 with 55 ticks to go in the period.
Dallas then scored three times in the final half of the third period to put the game away.
Neal took a return feed from Loui Eriksson on a 2-on-1 and stuffed it past a moving Pavelec to make it 4-1 with just under nine minutes remaining.
Neal and Woywitka scored in the final three minutes and change to tip the scales in favor of a lopsided win.
Neal had his third two-goal game of the season while Daley had his first…The Stars have won eight straight games dating back to last season when Daley scores…Burish ended a 10-game goal drought and scored for the first time since December 21…Richards recorded two assists for a tenth time this year. Dallas was 4-for-5 on the power play while the Thrashers were 0-for-3…Ladd has recorded a point in six straight games…Atlanta defenseman Tobias Enstrom picked up an assist and has scored 18 points in his last 14 games.
