That is not a headline I thought I'd be typing two months into this NHL season, but, yes, your little Dallas Stars have climbed to second in SB Nation's Western Conference power rankings. They also sit second in the actual standings, behind the Detroit Red Wings. The Stars are up from #5 after continuing a six-game win streak that ended Monday night and still lead the Pacific division.
Dallas has a busy week ahead, with a Wednesday visit to the Blackhawks, who have picked up the pace after seemingly suffering from a little Cup hangover early in the season, and a return home to face Carolina Friday, before heading west for a pair of divisional tilts with Phoenix and San Jose, Saturday and Monday.
