The Mavericks will have an open assistant coaching spot, as Terry Stotts has been named the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Stotts spent the last four seasons as an assistant with Dallas. He previously had been the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks, posting a 115-168 record.
General manager Neil Olshey called Stotts one of the top offensive coaches in the NBA in a team release.
"Terry is one of the elite offensive minds in the NBA, has extensive experience with multiple organizations and was instrumental in the Dallas Mavericks winning the 2011 NBA Championship, said Olshey. "He understands the vision for the future of the franchise, appreciates the process involved and will create an environment on the court that will produce championship habits."
