Steve Nash Rumors: Knicks Pursuing Sign And Trade With Phoenix

Former Dallas Mavericks PG Steve Nash has been rumored to be one of the team's fall-back options after losing the Deron Williams sweepstakes, but it seems like the team may be losing another PG target to the Big Apple.

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports columnist Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks have emerged as the front-runner for Nash, and are working on a sign-and-trade deal that would send promising rookie G Iman Shumpert to Phoenix:

Dallas would have the cap room to give Nash a similar contract, but they couldn't offer the same chance of competing for a title, not with former Mavericks and Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler in New York.

Regardless, North Texas isn't exactly the cosmopolitan destination the Big Apple is, and the Mavericks may have put themselves in a position to fail by trying to compete in free agency with either New York team.
