Deron Williams Re-Signs With Nets, Spurns Mavericks

Nets guard Deron Williams was able to break the news about his future today, tweeting that he made a tough decision, along with a photo of the Brooklyn Nets logo. He will be staying with the Nets.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports had the contract details.

The Mavs had been hoping to sign the Dallas native Williams, but couldn't offer the same amount of money. From ESPN.com:

Williams chose the Nets over his hometown Dallas Mavericks, who could only offer four years, $75 million based on the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Having missed out on a star player, the Mavs' focus at point guard likely will turn to re-signing Jason Kidd at the moment.
