Andrew Bynum Rumors: Lakers Talking Extension With Big Man

After losing out on the Deron Williams sweepstakes, the Dallas Mavericks have carefully hoarded their salary cap space for the summer of 2013, where Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and Chris Paul could all be free agents.

However, according to the latest reports out of LA, Bynum may never hit the market:

It was always a long-shot for the Mavericks to beat out a glamour franchise like the Lakers for one of their most important players, but Bynum's free agency plans are still vitally important for Dallas.

If he was already signed to a long-term deal, the Orlando Magic would have already sent Howard to LA, but since Bynum is unwilling to sign an extension with any team but the Lakers, he has effectively eliminated them from the Howard sweepstakes.

For all the latest news and notes on the Mavericks free agency plans, stay tuned to the SB Nation Dallas storystream as well as Mavs Moneyball.
