The Orlando Magic visited Dwight Howard in LA on Wednesday, and as has become the norm in meetings between the two camps, the details leaked out on Twitter almost as soon as they were happening.
↵It appears that the Dallas Mavericks, as one of the few teams with the salary cap space to sign Howard outright next summer, could end up in the catbird's seat:
↵↵↵Howard's plan: Trade him to the Lakers or Nets, he re-signs. Don't (or trade him anywhere else) and he's a Maverick in 2013

The good news for Dallas is that neither LA nor Brooklyn can give Orlando any type of reasonable deal -- any trade with the Nets would require the Magic to eat a lot of bad salaries while the Magic can't take Andrew Bynum if he won't accept a contract extension (which he won't).
↵It's unlikely that Orlando would hold on to Howard all season, but as long as they don't send him to New York or Los Angeles, Dallas will have a chance.
