NBA Las Vegas Summer League: Dominique Jones Scores 32 In Dallas Win

The Dallas Mavericks began their summer league play in Las Vegas Sunday night, and they got a nice surprise when Dominique Jones went off for 32 points to lead all scorers as the Mavericks defeated the Denver Nuggets 88-77. For the game, Jones went 12-for-25 from the field, 7-for-9 from the free throw line and also hauled in eight rebounds.

While Jones led the way for the Mavericks, their offense was spread out as five other scorers had eight or more points, and as a team shot 47 percent. The defense for the Mavericks was also impressive as they held the Nuggets to only 31 percent shooting from the field.

The Mavericks were in control of this game the entire way as they rushed out to a five-point lead after the first quarter, and then expanded that to 12 at the half. The Nuggets did make a run in the third quater to cut the Mavericks lead to single digits, but the Mavericks rebounded from a poor third quarter to push their lead to double digits throughout the final frame before winning by 11.
