Luis Scola Awarded To Phoenix Via Waiver Auction

The Phoenix Suns have been awarded former Rockets power forward Luis Scola after placing the winning bid in the amnesty waiver auction. The Dallas Mavericks had previously been rumored to have interest in Scola but that could have wained some after they won out on Elton Brand in his waiver auction.

Several teams were rumored to be interested in Scola who saw his production drop in the 2012 season. The Suns have now been aggressive in remaking their team after the trade of Steve Nash to the Los Angeles Lakers. Scola joins his Houston teammate Goran Dragic who signed with the Suns as a free agent earlier this offseason.

To make room for Scola the Suns used the amnesty provision on swingman Josh Childress who will now be subjected to the waiver auction process.
