Dallas Mavericks Offseason 2012: Darren Collison & Dahntay Jones Trade From Indiana Pacers For Ian Mahinmi

The Dallas Mavericks have have agreed to trade for point guard Darren Collison and guard/forward Dahntay Jones from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Ian Mahinmi, according to a report by ESPN. This is a sign-and-trade deal that sends Mahinmi to the Pacers to back up Roy Hibbert, who they just signed to a max deal this offseason.

Collison is a decent pacifier for the disappointment of not getting Deron Williams and also seeing guards Jason Terry and Jason Kidd go to the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks in free agency. The Mavs are going to look a lot different this upcoming season, but having acquired Chris Kaman and now Collison and Jones gives Dallas a chance to still be competitive in the west.
