Mavericks Trade Lamar Odom To Clippers

The Mavericks saved themselves and picked up a lot of money on Thursday, as Lamar Odom was sent to the Clippers for cash, and LA guard Mo Williams was sent to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal, according to multiple reports.

The move was reported earlier in the day by the Dallas Morning News, but not official until Williams picks up his option. The AP reported that Williams will do so.

Odom never fit after coming to Dallas from the Lakers, and was eventually put on the inactive list. What will happen to him back in LA? From Pro Basketball Talk:

It is not known yet whether the Clippers will keep Odom, who could provide versatile depth off the bench behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, or if they will buy him out on Friday. Odom is owned $8.2 million next season but can be bought out for $2.4 million. While you can say the Clippers can use him on the court, don't underestimate owner Donald Sterling trying to save money.
