NBA Mock Draft 2012: Mavericks Select Arnett Moultrie At No. 17

A year removed from an NBA title, the Dallas Mavericks need to get younger across their roster. With the No. 17 pick in a deep draft class they'll have a chance to, and Stephen Alexander of Rotoworld believes they'll select Arnett Moultrie from Mississippi State.

Dirk Nowitzki isn’t going to be around forever and my guess is Moultrie can also play some center for a small lineup. The Mavs have needs at both big men positions and Moultrie can fill those. He can also score from the outside, and might end up being a nice transition player as Dirk’s career winds down.

Moultrie transferred from the University of Texas-El Paso and in his first year at Mississippi State, he averaged 16.4 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game as a junior.

For more on the Mavericks draft plans, stay tuned to the SB Nation Dallas storystream as well as Mavs Moneyball.
