Mavericks Offseason 2012: Team Will Head To Europe For Training Camp

Dirk Nowitzki is heading home. The Dallas Mavericks will spend part of their training camp in Europe, according to ESPN. The Mavericks will play a game in Germany and Spain.

Nowitzki has long wanted to play in front of his home country as a member of the Mavericks.

"I think it’s been long overdue. A couple years ago there was a game in Kolnarena [in Cologne, Germany] where Phoenix played Philly and everyone was like, 'Where are the Mavs at?' So, it’s been disappointing to see all these teams go over there and play and we were never a part of it. I think it’s going to be great."

The Boston Celtics will also take part in the trip to Europe. They will be traveling to Turkey and Italy.

Both teams will be allowed to begin training camp earlier because of the trip.
