2012 NBA Mock Draft: Mavericks Projected To Pick Syracuse's Dion Waiters

Most of the conjecture around the future of the Dallas Mavericks has little to do with the upcoming 2012 NBA Draft - it's established superstars like Deron Williams that the franchise seems to be after. That being said, Dallas will have a late first round pick, but because of their free agent searches, it's hard to nail down what they'll do on Draft night. Yahoo and Draft Express project they'll add to the backcourt, an area of immediate need, with Syracuse guard Dion Waiters:

The Mavericks are a team in transition, with a large amount of cap space coming up this summer and serious needs in the backcourt. Dion Waiters duplicates some of what sparsely used second-year combo guard Dominique Jones offers, but has good value at this point in the draft. Considering their flexibility, the Mavericks could go in many different directions here.

Waiters is a 6-4, 210 lb. shooting guard that developed out of a disappointing freshman season with The Orange into the team's go-to sixth man.
