Western Conference Standings Update: Mavericks Currently Sit Sixth

The Dallas Mavericks currently sit in sixth place in the Western Conference standings, with a 31-24 record, putting them just percentage points behind the Memphis Grizzlies (30-23).

The Mavs earned a pivotal win against Memphis on Wednesday night, trimming the Grizzlies lead in the loss column to just one game.

As it presently stands, the Thunder are atop the conference with a 40-14 record, trailed by San Antonio, the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Lakers, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers. Those four would host first round playoff series if the postseason started today, and are trailed by Memphis, Dallas, Houston and Denver - who are tied for at the rear end of the playoff standings.

Plenty can change between now and the end of the season, as Memphis - the current fifth seed - is just two and a half games up on ninth-place Phoenix.

Should be a fun home stretch.
