There is likely to be an emotional start to Tuesday night's match-up between the defending world champion Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks.
Former Mavericks center Tyson Chandler will receive his championship ring on Tuesday, as he is honored for his role in the 2011-12 run that ended with a win in the Finals over the Miami Heat.
Then all of the sentimental stuff will be over, and the Mavericks will look to respond to their most recent 95-91 road loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. After losing three games in the last five days since the All-Star break, Dallas needs to hold serve at home.
The Knicks have fallen back down to earth after the euphoria of Linsanity, which saw New York win eight out of nine games, with the last win of that stretch coming against the Mavericks on Feb. 19 at Madison Square Garden. Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin played out of his mind in that game, going for 28 points and 14 assists.
But, since then, New York has went 2-3, dropping every other game.
The 7:30 PM game will be broadcast nationally on NBA TV and carried locally on Fox Sports Southwest.
