Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion lobbied hard but has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Marion is a key part of Dallas' defensive game plan against the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant has been limited to 29 points in two games against the Mavericks on 11 of 37 shooting. Marion has missed the last two games with a sore knee but took part in this morning's shootaround which gave him hope that he could return to action against the Lakers.
Interestingly, Dallas has won both games that Marion has missed defeating both the San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets.
