To say that the Dwight Howard flip-flopping of trade demands and Orlando Magic loyalty has become a bit exhausting approaching the trade deadline would be an understatement. The drama has been a bit confusing as well.
Howard reportedly had a list of teams he was interested in being traded to earlier this season, but just recently, Howard seemed to have had a change of heart, or he could really be as confused as the rest of us. But as SI.com's Sam Amick writes, what is believed to be Howard's intention does not line up with his goal.
The New Jersey Nets are supposed to be Howard's preferred landing, but Nets star Deron Williams has shown interest in his hometown Dallas Mavericks.
"While sources continue to maintain that the Nets are far and away Howard's preferred team, the notion that he's already decided to join them this summer doesn't compute because it's not just about him. Nets point guard Deron Williams has spent much of the season telling people close to him how interested he is in signing with Dallas, where owner Mark Cuban cleared his championship deck for the purpose of landing the likes of Williams and Howard." - Sam Amick
Basically, the only way Deron Williams is staying with the Nets is if Dwight Howard lands there, and Williams might still want to go to Dallas anyway. For Howard, though, Dallas is clearly the destination with the most potential, especially if that is where is future running mate would like to be.
