Delonte West Suffers Compound Fracture In Finger, Out Indefinitely

The Mavericks backcourt took another hit on Wednesday night thanks to a gruesome injury that puts a third guard out of action for Dallas.

Mavericks guard Delonte West is out for an unknown amount of time after suffering a gruesome compound fracture of his finger against Denver on Wednesday night.

Video of the incident is available at SB Nation's main page, but be warned that it is very graphic:

West took a swipe at the ball as a Denver player drove past him, compound fracturing his finger in the process. Blood was clearly visible and West's exposed bone could be seen protruding from the injured finger -- one of the more gruesome sights.

The loss of West hurts a Mavericks team already fighting a thin backcourt with injuries to Jason Kidd and Rodrigue Beaubois. Head coach Rick Carlisle didn't give a timetable for West, and was quoted as saying "he'll be out for a while."
