Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion likely will not play against the Houston Rockets on Saturday, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News. Marion left the Mavs' win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday with a groin injury and did not return.
Marion felt he could have been put back into the game on Thursday, but seemed to back the team's decision to keep him out of action, and plans on taking it easy while recovering from the injury:
"A groin is something you don't mess with. "I'm going to take it slow."
Marion is averaging 9.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in 14 games this season. For his career, he has scored more than 16 points and pulled down in excess of nine boards per contest.
Mavs center Chris Kaman was also injured against the Suns, suffering a sprained left ankle. However, Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle told Sefko that Kaman could play on Saturday.
The Mavericks and Rockets are slated for a 7 p.m. CT tipoff on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston.
