The Dallas Mavericks continue to struggle after losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets on consecutive nights.
On Thursday, the Mavericks let a lead slip away in the fourth quarter as the Thunder rallied for a 111-105 overtime win. Darren Collison scored 32 points for Dallas, including a last-second, one-handed prayer from behind the arc to send the game into overtime. Kevin Durant and the Thunder would prove to be too much in OT as Durant finished with 40 points.
The Denver Nuggets never gave the Mavericks a chance on Friday nights as the visitors jumped out to an early lead and went on to win 106-85. Danilo Gallinari scored 39 points for the Nuggets while O.J. Mayo led the Mavs in scoring with just 15 points.
At the top of the Western Conference the Los Angeles Clippers pounded the Boston Celtics on Thursday, 106-77 and then backed up that win the next night with a 116-114 win over the Utah Jazz.. The Clippers secured their 16th consecutive win by scoring 68 second half points to rally past the Jazz. Thanks to the extended winning streak, the Clippers now own the top spot in the West by one game over the Thunder.
In other key Western Conference games on Friday, the San Antonio Spurs used an offensive outburst to outlast the Houston Rockets 122-116. Tony Parker scored 31 points to wipe out most of James Harden's 33 points for the Rockets. Tim Duncan added 30 points to the win.
Golden State was able to outlast the Philadelphia 76ers for a 96-89 win thanks to 25 points and 12 rebounds from David Lee.
In another exciting matchup between Eastern Conference and Western Conference teams, the Sacramento Kings beat the New York Knicks on a late three-pointer from James Johnson to give the Kings a 106-105 win.
