Despite lacking their superstar name in Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks have gotten off to a strong start in the 2012 NBA season. Through their first three games, the Mavs are 2-1, including a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
In their only weekend game, the Mavericks were able to down the Charlotte Bobcats, 126-99. That win put them in a tie for second place in the Southwest Division. The tie is currently between three 2-1 teams, the New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets joining the Mavs in that position.
The San Antonio Spurs currently lead the Southwest Division with a 3-0 record. San Antonio took down the Utah Jazz 110-100 in their only game of the weekend to keep themselves undefeated in the young NBA season.
Last place in the Southwest belongs to the Memphis Grizzlies, who have played a game fewer than everyone else in the division and currently sit at 1-1.
