Thanksgiving weekend wasn't kind to Rick Carlisle and the Dallas Mavericks.
Playing only one game over the holiday weekend, the Mavericks were dismantled by the Los Angeles Lakers, 115-89. SB Nation Dallas' Jonathan Tjarks broke down the game on Sunday, calling Dallas' loss to Los Angeles the "worst case scenario."
Despite the embarrassing home loss to the Lakers, the Mavericks still find themselves treading water without Dirk Nowiitzki. Dallas' record now stands at 7-7, just three-and-a-half games behind the Southwest Division leading San Antonio Spurs. The Mavericks also trail the Memphis Grizzles (9-2) in the division.
The Spurs won twice over the weekend, defeating the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, 104-97, before needing double overtime to defeat the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, 111-106.
Memphis played just once over the weekend, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, 106-98.
The Mavericks also lost ground to the Houston Rockets this weekend, as the Rockets defeated the New York Knicks on Friday night, and now sit just one-half game behind the Mavericks in the division, with a 6-7 record.
