Not to re-open old wounds, but Deron Williams gave some interesting quotes to New York media members on Monday when asked about his decision to re-sign with the Nets instead of the Mavericks:
Deron Williams elaborated on choice of Nets over Mavs. Says Mark Cuban's absence at meeting helped cinch decision.

Deron met w/Carlisle and Donnie Nelson. But he had questions about Mavs' future that only Cuban could answer, he said.

Cuban's decision not to attend the meeting with Williams left many in the NBA scratching their heads, especially in comparison to how hands on in Mavericks roster decisions he normally is.
Personally, I'm not convinced Williams won't end up regretting his decision to team up with Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace and Brook Lopez in an Eastern Conference that features LeBron James and the Heatles.
Dallas has more cap flexibility going forward and a better chance of grabbing an elite big man, the only way to beat LeBron. Cuban might have been able to convince Williams of this.
