Jason Kidd Injury Update: Lower Back Injury To Cost Kidd At Least Two More Games

Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Kidd suffered an all too familiar lower back injury in their loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night, and he also sat out Friday's game against the New Orleans Hornets. Kidd is expected to miss at least the next two games when the Mavericks go on the road against the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was not surprised by the injury and believes it could actually benefit them down the road:

"It's no surprise when J-Kidd goes down. Training camps are there for a reason," Cuban said. "You've seen a lot of injuries around the league and who knows whether they're directly related or not, but you have to deal with whatever comes around."

"Hopefully, we'll use it to our advantage," Cuban said of Kidd's injury. "We'll get the chance to see some younger guys or get some different lineups. With this kind of schedule we were going to have to rest these guys anyway, so this kind of forces some rest."

Kidd's injury is not to be too serious and he will be evaluated during this two-game road trip to assess when Kidd can return to the lineup.
