Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 of his 26 points in the second half as the Dallas Mavericks handed the Oklahoma City Thunder their first loss of the season 100-87.
Dallas used big second and third quarters to forge a lead against the Thunder and were able to hold on down the stretch. The Mavericks held their own on the boards and handed out 21 assists in the game. Nowitzki made 10-16 shots for his 26 points and also grabbed six rebounds.
Jason Terry and Vince Carter combined to score 29 points off the bench for the Mavericks with Carter going 8-9 from the free throw line. Shawn Marion scored 17 for the Mavericks who improve earned just their second win of the season.
Kevin Durant finished with a game-high 27 points for the Thunder. Russell Westbrook added 18 points and eight rebounds while Serge Ibaka chipped in 10.
