2011 NBA Free Agency: Mavericks Interested In Samuel Dalembert, According To Report

The Dallas Mavericks are interested in acquiring center Samuel Dalembert from the Sacramento Kings to pair with current big man Brendan Haywood, according to ESPN Dallas.

Using the trade exception the franchise gained in the Tyson Chandler sign-and-trade with the New York Knicks, Dallas will attempt a sign-and-trade with the Kings for Dalembert. The report did not indicate what the Kings were looking for in return, but mentioned Sacramento's interest in J.J. Barea. Dalembert averaged 8.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 24.2 minutes per game for the Kings last season.

The move is considered to be a temporary solution to the fill the loss of Chandler while keeping Dallas cap-friendly for the 2012 free agency market. The Mavericks are likely to make a move for Dwight Howard, Chris Paul or Kenyon Martin
