Mavericks' Caron Butler Out For Season?

New, 1 comment

As if the past week hasn't been rough enough for the Mavs, Tim McMahon speculates based on information from a Mavericks source that Caron Butler is likely to miss between two months and the remainder of the season due to the injury to his patellar tendon.

If it is a partial tear, Butler could be out two months. However, if it's a full tear, he would miss the rest of the season. The Mavericks won't be certain about the extent of the injury until they get the results of an MRI that will be taken after Butler returns to Dallas on Sunday.

It's safe to say that this team needs Rodrigue Beaubois, and it likely narrows Dallas' trade options at the deadeline, since Butler's expiring contract would potentially be one of their best trade assets.
