Dirk Nowitzki Out Against Spurs

The return of Dirk Nowitzki will have to wait another day. The Mavericks star will miss his ninth straight game tonight as the Mavericks head to San Antonio to take on the Spurs according to Earl K. Sneed.

Nowitzki suffered a knee injury in the Mavericks’ win over the Thunder in late December. Dallas has gone 2-6 in his absence and now face a tall order in taking on the Spurs in San Antonio without their best player.

The Mavericks, of course, also lost Caron Butler for the season – another reason for Dallas’ recent scuffle.

Through 29 games this year, Nowitzki has averaged 24.1 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game. The now nine-game absence is the longest of Nowitzki’s career.
