Tuesday Morning Mavs

The 2010-2011 streakbusters lived on last night. The Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat  98-96  snapping the Heat's 12 game winning streak in the process. It was a a game of runs and the Mavericks had the final one thanks in large part to an unconscious Jason Terry in the 4th quarter. Terry scored all of his 19 points in the 4th quarter and the Mavericks defense did the rest to secure the victory.

Mavsmoneyball has a rundown of all the post game comments from last night. Dirk is not impressed with the streakbusters tag.

"We got to keep on working. We don't want to settle for anything. We've found a pretty good mix of zone and man. I think we're in a groove. But what does it say? Really not much in December. If we break a lot of streaks in the playoffs, that'll be more like it. But as far as right now, it doesn’t mean a lot."

Jeff Caplan has an article talking about the Mavericks improved defense this year. Tyson Chandler says it has to stay that way.

"This has to be our identity. If we want to have a special year, we've got to think defense first."

Jeff Caplan also talks about Jason Terry's unbelievable 4th quarter.

Sefko does too.

"Coach came in at halftime and said we were only down by one point and Jet was still at the hotel," Terry said. "I'm just glad they kept having faith in me."

Rick Pitino will coach JJ Barea on the Puerto Rican national team this summer

That should be... interesting.

Dirk is now 11 points away from passing Larry Bird for 25th all time on the NBA scoring list and should have no problem eclipsing him tonight.

↵

He truly is amazing.

It doesn't get any easier for the Mavericks tonight as they take their talents to Orlando for a date with the new look Magic. The Magic struggled in their first game together last night and one can only hope those struggles continue.

You can watch the game tonight at 6:00pm CT on KTXA 21 locally or NBATV.
