Monday Morning Mavs

New, 1 comment

Oh, what a difference 12 games makes. The Mavericks face the Miami Heat tonight and will try to snap a 12 game winning streak that was started after Dallas humiliated the Heat and forced the super friends into an emergency team meeting. This should be a great test for the Mavericks who are facing probably the toughest back to back in the NBA this season. A gelling Miami team and a rejuvenated Orlando team should be a good litmus test for these Mavericks. Anyways, here are some links.

Jeff Caplan says that Dirk/Kidd/Chandler is the 3rd best trio in the NBA and Dirk compares Chandler's impact to Garnett's impact with the Celtics.

"It’s almost like when K.G. went to Boston," Nowitzki said of Chandler's arrival. "I don’t think Ray or Paul Pierce were great defenders before K.G. got there, but K.G., with his energy, his defense and his mentality and his high-octane self, he kind of changed the whole momentum on the defense. I think that’s what Tyson did here just with his overall willingness to defend. He talks out there, always a loud communicator, pushing everybody in the right spots. I think that’s what Tyson brings to our team.

Rick Carlisle says that the Mavericks are still a work in progress and Jason Terry agrees.

"For us to be peaking now would be probably the worst thing that could happen." "It's good to know you're winning a lot of games and you still can get better."

Jason Terry then tries to assess the difference between the Miami Heat team the Mavericks faced 12 games ago and the one they'll face tonight.

They still kind of take their turns,'' But before it was like, 'Here, you got it and then (I'll) just stand over here.' Now it's more penetrate and kick and they're getting out on the break more.''

Dirk is 37 points away from passing Larry Bird for 25th place on the all-time scoring list.

Quite an achievement and while it would take a mammoth effort, I wouldn't put it passed him to get it over with tonight.

I hate them, and until we win (a title) then that feeling is still going to be there,’’ Terry said after Sunday’s practice at American Airlines Center. "When we go back to Miami it’s going to be emotional and I’m looking forward to it.’’

I'm going to go head and move on to something happier right now..,

Rodrique Beaubois is progressing from his broken left foot and will start walking on a underwater treadmill this week.

I can't wait to see these Mavericks with an injection of Roddy B. I guess I'll keep waiting until the new year...

Until then, enjoy the Mavericks and Heat tonight at 6:30 p.m CT on FSSW.
