Mavericks Fifth In SB Nation's Western Conference Power Rankings

The Mavericks sit at 2-1, good enough for the fifth spot in the first full week of Western Conference power rankings from SB Nation.

The Mavericks' rather steep drop seems to be indicative of the fact that nobody really knows where to place them. Ranked No. 2 last week, they were one point away from a perfect record in three games, and yet they tumble down the rankings while other teams (see OKC) remain impervious despite more embarrassing losses.

I would agree with the first sentence. Not much has changed in the Dallas roster, but their one loss was pretty a unimpressive showing against Memphis, and there are age questions with Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, Jason Terry and even Caron Butler, along with a hole at backup point guard. Tyson Chandler looks like a nice addition if he can stay healthy, but when will Roddy Beaubois be back, and how explosive will he be? Lots of questions.
