Tight end Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys has been on the bubble for Wednesday's game against the New York Giants since he returned to practice following a lacerated spleen injury. According to a tweet by ESPN's Chris Mortensen, he did travel with the team to New York but is having repeated requests to sign a medical waiver turned down by the team:
Jason Witten has persistently offered to sign medical waiver. #Cowboys won't accept it. Made trip, doubtful, "game-time decision." #NFL32— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) September 5, 2012
Witten's status for the first game of the season will likely remain up in the air right up until kickoff against the Giants on Wednesday night.
