NFL Power Rankings: Cowboys In The Top Half Of The League, Barely

Everyone loves to hate power rankings. The entirely pointless ratings from the best team to the worst team have absolutely no impact on the games on Sunday, yet still manage to get fans worked up when their favorite team isn't ranked as high as they believe they should be.

In Joel Thorman's first power rankings of the regular season for SB Nation, he ranks the Dallas Cowboys as a middle of the pack team.

15. Dallas Cowboys (LW: 15): It'd take a career year from Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray to take a big step and Dez Bryant to stay on the field every week, but it's not crazy to think this team can make a playoff run.

The Week 1 opponent for the Cowboys, the New York Giants, earned the No. 2 spot in the rankings after winning the Super Bowl for the 2011 NFL season.
