Cowboys Vs. Seahawks Game Recap: Dallas Hammered In Seattle, 27-7

New, 1 comment

The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Seattle Seahawks, 27-7, on Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. The Cowboys turned the ball over two times, and allowed a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown, in the loss.

The Cowboys fell into an early 10-0 hole thanks to some bad play on special teams. First, Felix Jones fumbled the opening kickoff, which led to a Steven Hauschka field goal for Seattle. Then, after Dallas went three-and-out on its first possession, Malcom Smith blocked Chris Jones' punt, and Jeron Johnson picked it up walked into the end zone.

After throwing an interception on the Cowboys' second possession, Tony Romo threw a touchdown pass to Miles Austin to get the Cowboys to within three. However, Seattle would add another field goal before halftime, increasing its lead to 13-7.

The second half completely belonged to the Seahawks, as Marshawn Lynch imposed his will, while Russell Wilson continued to manage the game effectively. Wilson put Seattle up by two scores with a third-quarter touchdown pass to tight end Anthony McCoy, then Lynch made it a laugher after scoring on a 3-yard run midway through the fourth quarter. Wilson finished 15-of-20 for 151 yards and a touchdown, while Lynch ran for 122 yards on 26 carries and added a score. Meanwhile, Dallas' day can be easily summed up with one image:

Tony Romo completed 23 of 40 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing a pick. DeMarco Murray's production regressed after a solid opener, as he carried the ball just 12 times for 44 yards. Miles Austin was Dallas' most productive receiver, as he caught five passes for 63 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Jason Witten turned in a promising outing, catching four passes for 53 yards, which was a big improvement over Week 1.
