2012 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp: Mike Jenkins Still Recovering From Shoulder Surgery

The news for Mike Jenkins could be worse, and will be if he can't improve before the start of the 2012 NFL season: the veteran cornerback doesn't have the strength back in his right shoulder to perform in training camp, landing him on the Cowboys' physically unable to perform (PUP) list. If Jenkins is still on the PUP and the roster come Week 1, he'll automatically miss six weeks of the season.

Per ESPN Dallas, the coaching staff wasn't surprised at Jenkins' condition:

"I don't think we had any anticipation he was going to be cleared to practice," Garrett said. "It was almost a checkup to see what the next timetable is and what we've been told is probably won't see the doctor for at least a couple of weeks. You can anticipate him not being cleared prior to that. Again, players heal differently and we hope as he goes through this process that can be sped up and he's feeling better and we can arrange another trip and he goes down there and gets the thumbs up and we get him on the practice field."

Jenkins had 24 tackles, eight passes defended and one interception in 2011. He missed last year's training camp with a neck stinger.
