The Dallas Cowboys announced their 53-man roster on Friday night, and to get down to the required amount they had to let go of 23 players. Notable players that were cut were running back Lance Dunbar, but he reportedly asked to be released. He is a player that they would definitely want back on the practice squad if he can clear waivers.
2012 fifth round draft pick Danny Coale was let go because he was unable to prove himself as he was injured for a good portion of training camp.
Here are the 23 players who did not make the team:
OT Jeff Adams
LB Baraka Atkins
DL Ben Bass
WR Tim Benford
DL Robert Callaway
QB Rudy Carpenter
FB Shaun Chapas
WR Danny Coale
RB Lance Dunbar
DL Clifton Geathers
G/C Harland Gunn
WR Saalim Hakim
LB Adrian Hamilton
OG Ronald Leary
LB Orie Lemon
OG Daniel Loper
OT Pat McQuistan
RB Jamize Olawale
S Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
TE Andrew Szczerba
CB Lionel Smith
S Eddie Whitley
CB Teddy Williams
The Cowboys are not done making moves as they will more than likely tinker with the bottom end of their roster, and also try to get some of the players they let go back to join the practice squad if they are not claimed through waivers.
