At a time when teams must cut down their roster from 75 players to a final 53, the Cowboys instead added a new player by way of a trade with the Miami Dolphins. Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports that Dallas has agreed to a trade with the Dolphins that will make interior offensive lineman Ryan Cook a new member of the team.
The offensive line has been a weakness for the Cowboys offense so far as mounting injuries led to poor play along the inside of the line and Tony Romo spent plenty of time running for his life. While Cook likely won't step in and start for the Cowboys, he's a towering figure that has 40 career starts during his six-year career and experience in 77 games.
The compensation for the trade, according to Fox Sports Southwest's Bob Sturm, is just a seventh round pick as the Dolphins were likely to release the lineman in final cuts had a trade not been made.
