Long snapper Charley Hughlett being released signaled the end of the first round of cuts for the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, as they got their roster down to the mandated 75 player number. The final game of the preseason is coming up against the Miami Dolphins followed by another huge round of cuts to get the team down to 53 in time for the regular season.
Cowboys blog Blogging The Boys has taken a stab at making their own 53 man roster projection, with some interesting results. Only two QB's are on the team in their final cut and young guys like Manna Silva slipped onto the team as well, the hard cuts being the ones at the end:
To be honest, today was the easy round. As anyone that has played around with Coty's roster builder will tell you. Things don't get all that difficult for the first 10 or so cuts. The difficulty really comes in the last 3-4 slots in addition to the danger of which players can be snuck onto the practice squad and which ones are likely to be scooped up by other teams.
BtB also has a roster builder for their community on the site so you can be Jerry Jones for a day as well!
