Darren Woodson, Barry Switzer React To Joe Avezzano's Death

Joe Avezzano's sudden death on Thursday sent shockwaves through the Dallas Cowboys community. Avezzano suffered a heart attack while working out on a treadmill in Italy, and passed away shortly thereafter. Cowboys legends Darren Woodson and Barry Switzer both weighed in on the tragic death on Thursday.

Calvin Watkins over at ESPN Dallas has a few quotes from Woodson.

"It's hard to believe," Woodson said Thursday afternoon. "I haven't talked to Joe in a year and half, but whenever we do talk it's always a strong conversation, as if we talk to each other every day."

"He knew your family, he knows all my kids and I know his wife and son," Woodson said.

While Avezzano was a football coach, football was not the first connotation Switzer had with Avezanno. Tim MacMahon over at ESPN Dallas has this quote from Switzer:

"Joe would rather have been a country western music star or on-stage performer than a football coach if he had a choice," Switzer said. "Joe did a great job coaching, was highly ambitious and a hard worker, but Joe always thought he could sing. I got a kick out of that."

By all accounts, Avezzano was a class act, and will be remembered by many throughout the Dallas community.
