Todd McShay Says David DeCastro 'As Ready As Any Player I've Ever Evaluated'

With speculation increasing that the Dallas Cowboys are focusing on either Stanford OG David DeCastro or Alabama SS Mark Barron with their No. 14 overall pick, ESPN Insider Todd McShay's recent comments about DeCastro are worth noticing:

"[DeCastro is] as ready as I think I've ever evaluated a player in terms of being ready to come in and play at a high level," ESPN's Todd McShay told the San Antonio Express-News in a conference call.

"I wrote balance down about 90 times when I was watching his tape. Everything's in balance and under control. He's instinctive. He's absolutely just nasty. Tough, physical, just plays with the temperament you're looking for. Competes and is highly respected by his teammates," McShay continued. "He's the elite of the elite when it comes to guard."

The big concern for the Cowboys seems to be that offensive guard is not a premium position and that quality linemen can be found later in the draft.

DeCastro might be the safest choice at No. 14, but can Dallas afford a luxury at the position when they are so deficient in the defensive backfield?
