Cowboys Hosted Tackle/Guard Prospect From U. Of Illinois: Jeff Allen

It appears the Cowboys snuck in a offensive line visitor this week, right under the radar. According to @ESPNChiBears, University of Illinois Tackle Jeff Allen made a visit to Valley Ranch this week and will also spend some time with division rival Philadelphia.

Allen played tackle in college but is projected to be a guard in the professional ranks.

Obviously, Mel Kiper, Jr. feels strongly about his pro potential. Drafttek.com does as well, but only as a guard. They rank him as the 62nd best prospect in the draft as a guard, but if he remains at tackle they see him as a sixth-rounder, number 186 overall. Wes Bunting of the National Football Post agrees, ranking him the ninth best guard prospect, but the 22nd best tackle.

CBSSports.com and NFLDraftScout are higher on him as a tackle prospect, ranking him as a third round prospect (#77 overall).
