NFL Draft Rumors: Cowboys Aren't Only Team Thinking Of Trading Down In First Round

The Dallas Cowboys have been making noise about trading down from their No. 14 pick in the first round for several weeks, but there's one big problem with that strategy: there has to be a team willing to trade up too.

In an article for CBS Sports, Rob Rang writes that the Cowboys aren't the only ones trying to trade down in 2012:

While last moment deals are common over the course of the NFL draft, don't fool yourself into thinking that these deals aren't being discussed long before the curtains are raised at Radio City Music Hall. In fact, one NFL executive told me to anticipate plenty of fireworks as "half of the teams in the top 10 are trying to trade out."

Without many prospects considered true blue-chips in seasons past, there may not be as much interest in trading up to the Cowboys at 14 as in normal years.

However, with the new CBA putting a cap on potential salaries for first-year players, there's not much of a downside for staying in place anymore either.
