Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jason Hatcher made an appearance on the Ben & Skin Show on Friday, and one of the remarks he made is somewhat troubling.
↵↵↵Who are the leaders on the Dallas Cowboys?
↵
"Dude. I gotta be honest with you: That's a good question. That's a good question. I really don't know. It's just another thing we really need ... like the Ravens, we don't have that. We've got the talent. We've got everything we need. I think we get like a Ray Lewis-type. Everybody buys into him. When Ray Lewis speaks, everybody listens to him. A guy like that. We really don't got that. I think we definitely need somebody like that."
It's not surprising, but it's still troubling. DeMarcus Ware has been an elite player for years, and would seem like the likely in-house candidate to take control of the locker room, especially on the defensive side.
↵From my perspective, no team really needs an outspoken leader, ala Lewis as Hatcher alluded to. It certainly wouldn't hurt, though, and if it would make players like Hatcher believe more in the team, then it's beneficial.
↵Perhaps Jason Garrett and Rob Ryan need to do a better job themselves, so that the players buy into the team.
