In the latest mock draft from SBNation, Ryan Van Biber has the Dallas Cowboys taking Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick with the No. 14 overall pick:
14. Dallas Cowboys, Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
Another obvious fit for a team that tried to bluff its way through with Terrance Newman in the secondary. Kirkpatrick is a physical cornerback who excels in man coverage. He'll match up well in the NFC East against the Giants' receivers. Obligated to mention his marijuana arrest, it's nothing more than a reminder of how silly the draft stock game gets sometimes.
Kirkpatrick, a 6'2 190 junior CB, was a second-team All-American for Alabama in his third season in Tuscaloosa, where the five-star recruit stepped onto the field immediately for Nick Saban, helping the Crimson Tide win two national titles in three seasons.
He's been widely projected to go in the top ten but his stock has taken a hit in recent weeks after he was arrested for marijuana possession on Jan. 17.
