Report: Cowboys Cut Montrae Holland

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Cowboys have cut Montrae Holland one day after they made their cuts to slim their roster to 53. The obvious possibility is that the club has found another offensive lineman who was cut yesterday. Waiver claims were reportedly due at 10:00 CT this morning.

Cuts still coming: Cowboys released G Montrae Holland today.

Holland barely practiced in training camp and only played in the last preseason game. He looked solid in that performance, though, and most assumptions were that the club would want to keep him as insurance for their young linemen, possibly even promoting him back to a starting role once he is 100%.

Instead, they will go with Bill Nagy at left guard and Phil Costa at center, and they will have only young backups – pending any moves made today.

The Cowboys take on the Jets in one week in their season opener.
