NFC East: Eagles Sign Steve Smith Away From Giants

The Eagles are back at it again on Wednesday, this time signing wide receiver Steve Smith away from the New York Giants

Smith only appeared in nine games for the Giants last year, hauling in just 48 catches for 529 yards and three touchdowns. Smith, though, was hurt and underwent microfracture surgery on his knee. It's almost certain that Smith will begin the season on the PUP list, but should be healthy enough around midyear.

In 2009, Smith was excellent with 107 receptions for 1,220 yards and seven touchdowns. The Eagles are obviously optimistic that the 2009 version of Smith will resurface in time for the second half of the year and the playoffs - should the Eagles make it there.

Philadelphia now has a slew of weapons at pretty much every offensive position, with DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant already at wide out, Brent Celek at tight end with LeSean McCoy and now Ronnie Brown at running back.

A ton of pressure is going to be on Michael Vick now. We'll see how he responds, but it wouldn't surprise me if he implodes and reverts back to his old self at some point this year. Still, the Eagles are doing their best to surround him with as many weapons as possible.
