It's the offseason, the perfect time for lists. ESPN had been doing individual Power Rankings the past few months. Now NFL Network and Peter King are passing the time with lists of their own -- the Top 100 Players. NFLN had the idea originally, and it's been revealing the list in small batches. King took notice and decided to post in a similar schedule. So, through Tuesday evening, there's only 40 picks remaining.
Let's take a look at which Dallas Cowboys players have made the cut in the bottom sixty percent of the top 100.
Cowboys Included In Players' Top 100
- C Andre Gurode (57th)
- QB Tony Romo (72nd)
- DT Jay Ratliff (75th)
Cowboys Included In Peter King's Top 100
- TE Jason Witten (48th)
- QB Tony Romo (93rd)
These lists have several interesting diverging points, but after perusing the list multiple times, the Cowboys' selections are one of the more conversation-worthy. There's lots of questions one can ask, such as:
- Will Gurode make King's top 40? If not, why did King overlook a guy that is so well respected by his peers?
- What about Jason Witten? Does he crack the players' top 40? One would think so.
- Is there any chance that Dez Bryant sneaks into the top 40? Highly unlikely considering Rookie of the Year winner Ndamukong Suh was only voted 51st by his peers. You never know though. Bryant was pretty special last season.
- DeMarcus Ware is obviously going to make a cameo in the top 40, perhaps as high as somewhere in the top 10 to 15. Will any other Cowboys be included in either list?
