The bloggers for the NFC East division over at ESPN put together some power rankings this week that ranked the top players in the NFL. Not surprisingly, the top two players ranked were Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, with the reigning NFL MVP Brady as the top player in the entire NFL.
↵Manning followed at No. 2, with fellow quarterbacks Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers coming in at No. 3 and 4 before Troy Polamalu ended the quarterback lovefest. Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers and Michael Vick also appear on this top 10 list, giving the quarterback position a total of seven players on their top 10 list, which is a bit ridiculous.
↵One member of the Dallas Cowboys did garner some votes - DeMarcus Ware. Ware finished at No. 12 in their voting, being ranked as high as the fifth best player in the league by one of the voters.
↵That Ware is the only member of the Cowboys to register on such a list isn't terribly surprising. It is a bit of a farce, though, that seven quarterbacks made this list - especially Vick, given he's had one good season in his career. In Vick's case, he's ranked as the seventh best player at his position, and that's supposed to be elite, and worthy of being one of the best players in the league period?
↵We'll see if Vick can repeat his success this coming year - I tend to doubt it.
